AutoCAD® Utility Design (AUD) process workflow and ERP Optimization at SCE

This session looked at the major technical changes throughout the organization and the entire work order process as they unified design process with a new utility design software.
 
This session presented a closer look at the approach used to unify design process using AutoCAD® Utility Design (AUD), beginning with external work management through the work flow and ending with the validation of the design and Bill of Materials being sent to an external Work Management system. Along the way, they discussed accessing external mapping and SAP asset information within AUD and also the tools ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the design process. With an emphasis on realizing the benefits of an IPSEC (Initiate, Plan, Schedule, Execute, Close) based work order lifecycle, the discussion includes SCE's solution to T&D design interactivity through estimating and material ordering phases and SCE's approach to eliminating the need for manual entry directly into ERP systems (SAP).

Unifying the Design Process and ERP Optimization at SCE
 
This session examined the entire work order process, beginning with work flow management throughout various systems, engineering and validation of the design, and ending with the Bill of Material being leveraged in subsequent phases of the work management processes. The discussion emphasizes SCE's ability to realize the benefits of an IPSEC (Initiate, Plan, Schedule, Execute, Close) based work order lifecycle through integration of several work management applications. In addition, the impact of technology change to the organization will be discussed, including highlights of key lessons learned from SCE's recent ERP implementation.
