On Sunday August 28, the center of the hurricane/tropic storm named Irene went about 30 miles west of Shoreham, NY, located on the Long Island Sound. If they didn't break, networks wouldn't need to be self-healing, scada systems wouldn't need to be fault tolerant or fully redundant.
