Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), the operating subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX), announced today that its Energy Services group received an award from Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) to develop comprehensive North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) PER-005 compliant System Operator training program materials. In July, GP completed the job and task analysis portion of the project, which included analyzing the System Operators’ training needs and defining the required training objectives and curriculum. The purpose of the NERC PER-005 standard is to ensure that System Operators performing real-time, reliability-related tasks on the North American Bulk Electric System (BES) are competent to perform those reliability-related tasks. The competency of System Operators is critical to the reliability of the North American BES. Mr. Joe Nasal, Senior Vice President for GP Energy Services, commented, “Affected power companies throughout North America must demonstrate compliance with PER-005 within two years of its approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which is expected imminently. We are very pleased to expand our relationship with WPS by providing these needed services, which are part of GP Energy Services’ core strengths.” About GP GP is the principal operating subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX).
