Madison, WI - (August 20, 2002) - When people move to Alliant Energy-Wisconsin Power and Light’s utility service territory, they’re in for a one-stop-shopping customer service experience. With one call to Alliant Energy-WP&L, newcomers will get quality electric and natural gas service, and have the opportunity to sign up for other services, such as local and long-distance telephone, cable or satellite TV, Internet access, home security services, and even the local newspaper.
The new program, Alliant Energy Connections, helps simplify the moving experience for Alliant Energy-WP&L customers. When they call to establish Alliant Energy-WP&L electric or natural gas service, they also have the option to select and set-up other services, saving them time in making several additional phone calls and repeating the same customer information with each call.
"Research shows that 70 percent of movers call their electric utility first," says Scot McClure, Alliant Energy residential services program manger. "That puts our company in a position to step in and provide this value-added service for our customers. Alliant Energy Connections makes the moving process easier for our customers. It’s a convenience that saves them time and alleviates some of the stress associated with moving."
McClure says this type of service has had a positive impact on customer satisfaction at other utilities in the nation and the company is confident it will be positive for Alliant Energy customers, too. "It’s another way Alliant Energy is working to meet and exceed customer expectations," adds McClure
Alliant Energy’s commitment to its customers was recently confirmed by the high marks the company earned in the J.D. Power and Associates 2002 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM. Alliant Energy ranked second in the Midwest among 16 utilities and eighth among the 74 largest utilities in the nation in overall customer satisfaction.
Alliant Energy Connections is currently available to Alliant Energy-WP&L and South Beloit Water, Gas and Electric customers. The service will be expanded to Alliant Energy-Interstate Power and Light customers in Iowa and Minnesota later this year.
