CAMBRIDGE, MA (March 6, 2000) -- Excelergy Corporation, a leading provider of web-based customer information and transaction management technology to the deregulating retail energy market, announced today an agreement to partner with BP Amoco Gas and Power-North America to use eCN (e-ChoiceNet) Supplier Private Label. ECN Supplier Private Label is a private-branded, Internet-based transaction engine and customer acquisition web site for retail energy end-users. Excelergy’s eCN Supplier Private Label now allows BP Amoco to provide its retail energy customers across the United States with web-based energy information and pricing. The fully customizable and scalable product gives energy customers the ability to review BP Amoco’s pricing plans, request information and communicate directly with the company using the Internet. With eCN, BP Amoco offers its commercial and industrial customers enhanced web-based options for choosing energy products and services. “We pride ourselves not only on being a leading supplier of energy products and services, but also in utilizing innovative technology to serve our customers efficiently,” said Tony Fountain, President of BP Amoco Gas and Power-North America. “Excelergy’s eCN Supplier Private Label is the first of many products and services to be offered as part of our eBusiness strategy.” BP Amoco can leverage the scalability and flexibility of real-time transactions using eCN Supplier Private Label. This functionality enables BP Amoco to launch nationally as markets open. In markets not yet open to energy choice, BP Amoco will build a database of information on customers in preparation for further opening of markets. Through private branding, BP Amoco’s eCN Supplier Private Label has a consistent “look-and-feel” with its own corporate web site. In addition to its private-branded eCN Supplier Private Label, BP Amoco will be a participating supplier on Excelergy’s e-ChoiceNet public Internet access site (www.e-ChoiceNet.com). “Excelergy’s family of Internet-based applications offers all players in the deregulating energy industry the tools to bring choice to their customers,” said Philippe Frangules, vice-president of e-Commerce at Excelergy. “BP Amoco’s use of eCN Supplier Private Label is just another tool for energy participants to utilize in the New Energy Economy.” ABOUT BP AMOCO CORPORATION BP Amoco Corporation is one of North America's leading producers and holders of natural gas reserves, producing 3.5 billion cubic feet (bcf) per day and selling about 7 bcf/day.
